CheckSig completes new 1.5€M funding round

CheckSig continues its growth path: after a first seed of 1 € M, the innovative startup today announces a new round of business angels for 1.5 € M, at a post-money valuation of 20 € M.

The shareholder structure of the company today sees among the shareholders The Rock Trading (the longest running euro / bitcoin exchange in the world), Intesi Group (among the Italian leaders in digital signature), and several business angels with relevant experience in the financial services and consulting.

We are honored by the confidence that the market once again shows us. 2022 will be a key year for the adoption of digital assets by the traditional financial world, and CheckSig is uniquely positioned on the market both for its custody technology solutions and for the regulatory and insurance guarantees it can provide.
At the same time, we are also seeing an important traction in our B2C services, also thanks to strategic agreements with exchanges and financial advisory networks.
This new round will allow us to accelerate our growth in Italy and Europe, to further strengthen our range of services, and to give all our customers an even more personalized and complete service.

CheckSig is the first Italian bitcoin company to obtain SOC attestations

After obtaining the insurance coverage of SATEC underwriting (Cattolica Assicurazioni group), CheckSig reaches a new goal of security and credibility by obtaining the SOC attestations from Deloitte ERS, an independent auditor specialized in the analysis and assessment of cyber risks.

SOC attestations provide independent validation of a company’s financial processes and operations, certifying their robustness and resilience against errors, omissions or data loss.

“We are very pleased to have reached this new milestone. This is an international achievement in the traditional financial services industry, and we are proud to bring this standard of excellence to the Italian cryptocurrency space.

Transparency and security are our founding values, and obtaining SOC attestations proves once again our quality, safety, and compliance standards for the benefit of our customers and the market.

The trust of our customers is our main asset: we are proud to increasingly deserve it.”

Satec Underwriting, part of Cattolica Assicurazioni group, provides fund insurance to CheckSig’s assets under custody

In pursuit of the highest standards of service for its customers, CheckSig is now adding insurance coverage to its custody process. Thanks to the technological know-how of Satec Underwriting and CATTRe, the non-traditional risk reinsurance company of the Cattolica Group, a tailor-made policy was created capable of meeting the needs of CheckSig: the first and only Italian insurance contract in the cryptocurrency sector, so far exclusive prerogative of specialized operators on the London and US markets. In particular, the policy covers both the actual theft during the withdrawal operations of the stored Bitcoins, and the damages deriving from intrusions and security breaches and related to data recovery.

“We are particularly proud of this product because thanks to the skills of our teams it has been possible to build a policy for very new risks, in a sector that has enormous development potential. This confirms our ability to support the most advanced industry in technological innovation by offering insurance coverage that defends the company and therefore its customers”.

Nazareno Cerni, CEO CATTRe and Deputy General Manager Cattolica Assicurazioni

“In the pioneering Far West that still characterizes the Bitcoin ecosystem, it is crucial for us to bring professional and reliable service standards to the market. The insurance policy is an implicit validation and the appropriate complement of our custody service, as a guarantee for our customers. In Italy we are the only ones to boast insurance coverage, abroad we will compete with a transparent and verifiable protocol, technologically superior to that of our competitors”.
