In the new regulatory landscape shaped by MiCAR, the company reaffirms its long-standing commitment to security, independent audits and transparency, remaining the only Italian crypto company with SOC attestations.

Milan, 8 September 2026 - CheckSig, a leading European provider of crypto services for private and institutional investors, has renewed its SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II attestations for the sixth consecutive year. Issued by a Big Four audit firm, the attestations reaffirm the company’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational security and reliable internal controls.

Independent assurance, renewed annually

SOC (System and Organization Controls) attestations are issued by an independent external auditor, which assesses the suitability and effectiveness of a company’s controls. SOC 1 covers internal controls relevant to financial reporting, while SOC 2 examines data security, operational continuity, processing integrity and privacy protection.

The Type II assessment, which CheckSig has undergone annually since 2022, requires evidence that controls have operated effectively throughout the review period, rather than an assessment at a single point in time.

Compliance as a competitive advantage in the MiCAR era

The introduction of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) has raised the standards required of European crypto service providers, making regulatory compliance a condition for market access rather than a secondary consideration. Against this backdrop, institutional and private investors are seeking verifiable assurance about the security and reliability of the providers entrusted with their assets.

The SOC attestations that CheckSig has renewed every year since 2021 demonstrate its long-standing adherence to control standards that are becoming increasingly relevant in a regulated market.

Leadership built over time

The renewal of CheckSig’s SOC attestations adds to a series of key milestones, including its MiCAR licence, which made the company the first crypto service provider authorised in Italy. For CheckSig, both milestones reflect the same long-term investment in governance, security and controls - one that began well before the new European regulatory framework made these a requirement for market participation.

Ferdinando Ametrano, CEO of CheckSig, said: “Renewing our SOC attestations for the sixth consecutive year reflects a commitment that did not begin with MiCA - it predates it. We have been investing in security, independent audits and transparency for years, because we believe these are essential to building trust in a rapidly evolving market.

CheckSig was the first Italian crypto company to obtain SOC attestations and remains the only Italian crypto company to offer insurance coverage for assets held in custody. Its adherence to the highest quality standards, together with a sustained focus on transparency, security and independent verification, provides crypto investors with objective, measurable evidence of the safeguards the company has in place.
