CheckSig and Banca Profilo strengthen their partnership: after ensuring service continuity under the new MiCA framework, they are making the administered tax regime for crypto-assets available to banking customers through the Tinaba app, a first in Italy.

Milan, 7 October 2026 – Managing crypto-assets through the Tinaba App is now even simpler. Thanks to the evolution of the partnership between CheckSig and Banca Profilo, customers who access crypto services through the Tinaba App can opt for the administered tax regime at no additional cost.

These customers hold a direct contractual relationship with CheckSig, which provides crypto-asset services as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorised by Consob, Italy’s securities regulator. Banca Profilo provides the banking services within its remit, while Tinaba provides the technology interface.

Under the administered regime, for crypto-assets held with CheckSig, CheckSig itself determines, applies and pays the taxes due, significantly simplifying customers’ tax compliance.

The initiative marks a new milestone in the collaboration between CheckSig and Tinaba for Banca Profilo, launched in 2022, and reinforces the goal of making increasingly complete, simple and integrated services accessible through the App, in compliance with the applicable regulatory framework.

The administered regime simplifies crypto taxation

Tax management remains one of the main obstacles for those who operate in crypto-assets. Correctly determining realised income requires reconstructing transactions in detail, calculating taxes and monitoring holdings for reporting purposes. The administered regime addresses this pain point by transferring these obligations to the intermediary for the positions entrusted to it, making the crypto investment experience simpler and closer to that of traditional financial instruments.

In practice, customers who choose the administered regime are exempt from reporting and monitoring obligations for the crypto-assets held with CheckSig. For these positions, CheckSig determines, applies and pays the taxes due.

Participation is optional and the service carries no additional cost for the customer. For new customers activating crypto services in the Tinaba app, the administered regime is available immediately, with effect from the 2026 tax year. Existing customers may instead exercise the option by 31 December 2026, with effect from the 2027 tax year.

”Our withholding agent service, which we were the first to offer in Italy in 2024, substantially simplifies the tax management of crypto-assets. Extending it to those who access our services through the Tinaba app brings this simplification into a banking experience,” said Ferdinando Ametrano, Chief Executive Officer of CheckSig.

”The administered tax regime for crypto-assets adds further value to the Tinaba app for our customers. Thanks to our collaboration with CheckSig and the strength of the integration with the Tinaba interface, we can pair the reliability of our banking services with access to regulated crypto-asset services, now also tax-simplified. This is the first of a series of services that our partnership with CheckSig will allow us to make available in the app,” added Alberto Santini, General Manager of Tinaba.

A partnership that evolves with the market

Since 2022, CheckSig has enabled access to crypto-asset services through the Tinaba App, providing its technology infrastructure and the specialist expertise required to deliver these services.

With the new European MiCA framework now fully applicable, the partnership has evolved to ensure service continuity for customers and adapt to the new regulatory context.

“For years we have offered our customers the administered regime on traditional investments, a service that many operators are now starting to introduce. With our partnership with CheckSig, the same standard of simplicity extends to crypto-assets, where tax compliance is even more complex for the customer. This is how we want to innovate: bringing advanced, specialist services into the App and making them simple to use,” stated Andrea Cilio, Co-General Manager of Banca Profilo.

The model leverages the specific expertise of each player and shows how banks, fintechs and authorised crypto operators can collaborate while respecting their respective roles and supervisory frameworks. In this setup, CheckSig is the authorised entity providing crypto-asset services to customers, integrating access with its own infrastructure and regulatory specialisation within an already established banking experience.
